Yet the real surprise and delight for me was tenor AJ Glueckert. His name is not Aj with a lower-case j. My great grandfather went by AJ, so I do as well! He is the glue that holds the cast together, though I am in no way trying to diminish the others. He sounds like a combination of Wunderlich and the vastly underrated Waldemar Kmentt: a bit more Germanic like Kmentt, but with much of the sweetness of Wunderlich. Listening to this recording, I had an almost perpetual smile on my face, so wonderfully brisk and humorous was the singing and conducting.
God, it feels good to finally have a great Martha in stereo, and modern digital stereo at that!
